Investing.com – India stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Power, Real Estate and Consumer Durables sectors led shares higher while losses in the IT, Technology and Metals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.10%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were POWER GRID CORPORATION OF INDIA (NS:PGRD), which rose 1.96% or 4.05 points to trade at 210.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) added 1.68% or 19.50 points to end at 1179.70 and NTPC Limited (NS:NTPC) was up 1.30% or 2.05 points to 160.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which fell 2.13% or 18.40 points to trade at 847.15 at the close. Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv) declined 1.78% or 5.05 points to end at 278.10 and Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) was down 1.59% or 4.18 points to 259.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were POWER GRID CORPORATION OF INDIA (BO:PGRD) which rose 1.94% to 210.00, Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which was up 1.73% to settle at 1177.40 and Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) which gained 1.52% to close at 1668.45.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 1.51% to 449.60 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 1.47% to settle at 2453.40 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 1.44% to 259.35 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 794 to 766 and 7 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1299 fell and 1287 advanced, while 194 ended unchanged.
Shares in Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) fell to 5-year lows; losing 1.59% or 4.18 to 259.00. Shares in Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) rose to all time highs; up 1.52% or 25.00 to 1668.45. Shares in Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) fell to 5-year lows; losing 1.44% or 3.80 to 259.35.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.72% to 11.3400.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.39% or 4.92 to $1263.98 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.41% or 0.19 to hit $46.27 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.48% or 0.23 to trade at $48.52 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.12% to 64.395, while EUR/INR fell 0.12% to 72.1580.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 97.05.
