Investing.com – India stocks were mixed after the close on Friday, as gains in the Real Estate, Banking and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher while losses in the Technology, IT and Capital Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.05% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM), which rose 1.99% or 34.80 points to trade at 1,783.95 at the close. Meanwhile, SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL) added 1.48% or 21.70 points to end at 1,485.45 and HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) was up 1.47% or 22.40 points to 1,550.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS), which fell 1.93% or 43.85 points to trade at 2,234.00 at the close. UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) declined 1.75% or 174.80 points to end at 9,830.30 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) was down 1.42% or 53.85 points to 3,744.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which rose 1.92% to 1,782.25, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was up 1.56% to settle at 1,681.00 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which gained 1.41% to close at 1,549.50.
The worst performers were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 1.69% to 9,837.80 in late trade, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which lost 1.46% to settle at 3,744.45 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.45% to 1,189.40 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1345 to 837 and 45 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2341 rose and 1361 declined, while 96 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.05% to 11.34.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.17% or 4.00 to $2,312.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.24% or 0.21 to hit $86.80 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.41% or 0.37 to trade at $91.02 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.20% to 83.31, while EUR/INR fell 0.21% to 90.27.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 104.01.
