Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Metals and Capital Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 2.20%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 2.24%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which rose 1.03% or 14.15 points to trade at 1388.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Auto Limited (NS:BAJA) added 1.01% or 26.80 points to end at 2678.80 and Bharti Infratel Limited (NS:BHRI) was up 0.85% or 2.750 points to 324.750 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Motors Ltd . (NS:TAMO), which fell 7.90% or 38.55 points to trade at 449.40 at the close. Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv) declined 6.64% or 21.20 points to end at 298.25 and TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS:TISC) was down 6.38% or 21.30 points to 312.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Auto Limited (BO:BAJA) which rose 1.05% to 2679.00, Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which was up 0.33% to settle at 376.65 and Tata Power Co. Ltd (BO:TTPW) which gained 0.28% to close at 72.65.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which was down 7.99% to 449.00 in late trade, Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which lost 6.80% to settle at 117.90 and TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which was down 6.37% to 312.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1146 to 301 and 45 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1232 fell and 345 advanced, while 46 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bajaj Auto Limited (NS:BAJA) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.01% or 26.80 to 2678.80. Shares in Bajaj Auto Limited (BO:BAJA) rose to all time highs; up 1.05% or 27.75 to 2679.00.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.37% to 18.6275 a new 3-months high.
Gold for August delivery was up 5.25% or 66.30 to $1329.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 4.81% or 2.41 to hit $47.70 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 4.97% or 2.53 to trade at $48.38 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.94% to 67.910, while EUR/INR fell 1.91% to 75.1710.
The US Dollar Index was up 2.74% at 95.89.
