Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking, Auto and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.84%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.74%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which rose 3.74% or 6.50 points to trade at 180.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB) added 2.78% or 4.50 points to end at 166.60 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) was up 2.26% or 48.65 points to 2205.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Motors Ltd . (NS:TAMO), which fell 4.19% or 19.75 points to trade at 451.75 at the close. Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv) declined 3.66% or 10.85 points to end at 285.65 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) was down 3.41% or 15.60 points to 441.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were POWER GRID CORPORATION OF INDIA (BO:PGRD) which rose 1.92% to 185.35, Bajaj Auto Limited (BO:BAJA) which was up 1.69% to settle at 2639.70 and TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which gained 1.50% to close at 398.25.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which was down 3.89% to 453.05 in late trade, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which lost 2.59% to settle at 468.00 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 2.49% to 683.60 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 787 to 675 and 62 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1328 rose and 1189 declined, while 160 ended unchanged.
Shares in Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.74% or 6.50 to 180.20.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.88% to 17.1600.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.08% or 1.00 to $1186.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.08% or 0.04 to hit $47.98 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $48.94 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.09% to 68.748, while EUR/INR rose 0.03% to 72.6300.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.05% at 101.68.
