Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Capital Goods, Consumer Durables and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.54%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.53%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tech Mahindra Limited (NS:TEML), which rose 2.71% or 10.50 points to trade at 397.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) added 1.61% or 15.25 points to end at 963.85 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) was up 1.50% or 7.85 points to 532.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB), which fell 3.28% or 5.70 points to trade at 168.05 at the close. Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv) declined 2.65% or 7.70 points to end at 283.15 and Larsen & Toubro Limited (NS:LART) was down 2.34% or 41.60 points to 1736.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 1.60% to 963.80, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 1.59% to settle at 533.15 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which gained 0.42% to close at 1099.85.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 2.29% to 456.50 in late trade, Larsen & Toubro Limited (BO:LART) which lost 2.29% to settle at 1736.00 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 1.95% to 526.30 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1024 to 537 and 12 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1649 fell and 998 advanced, while 149 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 5.16% to 11.4225.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.09% or 1.09 to $1270.31 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.27% or 0.58 to hit $46.41 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.37% or 0.66 to trade at $48.81 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.10% to 64.456, while EUR/INR rose 0.44% to 72.2460.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 97.17.
