Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.41%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.37%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which rose 4.16% or 7.45 points to trade at 186.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB) added 3.39% or 6.15 points to end at 187.55 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) was up 2.73% or 7.70 points to 289.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharti Infratel Limited (NS:BHRI), which fell 3.30% or 12.10 points to trade at 354.70 at the close. ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) declined 2.73% or 7.80 points to end at 278.00 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was down 2.28% or 16.75 points to 719.25.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which rose 3.76% to 186.30, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 2.66% to settle at 289.45 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which gained 2.42% to close at 6525.50.
The worst performers were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 2.28% to 278.60 in late trade, Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) which lost 1.93% to settle at 1537.05 and HDFC Bank Ltd. (BO:HDBK) which was down 1.60% to 1542.15 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 787 to 773 and 9 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1440 fell and 1351 advanced, while 127 ended unchanged.
Shares in Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) rose to all time highs; up 2.42% or 154.35 to 6525.50.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.90% to 10.8600 a new all time low.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.17% or 2.15 to $1268.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.84% or 0.41 to hit $49.38 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.81% or 0.42 to trade at $52.24 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.30% to 64.320, while EUR/INR rose 0.94% to 70.3671.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 98.63.
