Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Healthcare, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Consumer Durables sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.35%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.31%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (NS:AXBK), which rose 2.47% or 11.55 points to trade at 478.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) added 2.22% or 48.90 points to end at 2256.50 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was up 1.29% or 2.62 points to 206.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which fell 4.18% or 28.35 points to trade at 650.05 at the close. Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv) declined 2.50% or 7.60 points to end at 297.00 and NTPC Limited (NS:NTPC) was down 2.17% or 3.55 points to 160.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 2.34% to 2259.50, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 2.17% to settle at 477.10 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which gained 1.35% to close at 206.45.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 4.36% to 649.45 in late trade, NTPC Limited (BO:NTPC) which lost 2.02% to settle at 160.30 and Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which was down 1.94% to 463.45 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 766 to 706 and 63 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1291 rose and 1267 declined, while 166 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.65% to 15.6550.
Gold for February delivery was down 2.69% or 31.35 to $1132.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.49% or 0.25 to hit $51.29 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.91% or 0.49 to trade at $54.39 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.07% to 67.875, while EUR/INR fell 0.00% to 71.0905.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.63% at 102.67.
