Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Metals and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty added 0.92%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 1.13%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were Yes Bank Ltd. (NSE:YESB), which rose 8.10% or 51.00 points to trade at 680.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Motors Ltd . (NSE:TAMO) added 6.68% or 20.60 points to end at 328.85 and Vedanta Ltd (NSE:VDAN) was up 6.54% or 5.30 points to 86.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Power Co. Ltd (NSE:TTPW), which fell 6.02% or 3.75 points to trade at 58.50 at the close. Ambuja Cements Ltd. (NSE:ABUJ) declined 2.14% or 4.55 points to end at 207.60 and POWER GRID CORPORATION OF INDIA (NSE:PGRD) was down 1.91% or 2.50 points to 128.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 7.73% to 86.45, Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which was up 6.30% to settle at 329.20 and Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which gained 5.23% to close at 353.90.
The worst performers were Tata Power Co. Ltd (BO:TTPW) which was down 5.54% to 58.85 in late trade, Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) which lost 1.82% to settle at 1145.60 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 1.20% to 4199.45 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 734 to 681 and 8 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 411 rose and 334 declined, while 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tata Power Co. Ltd (NSE:TTPW) fell to 5-year lows; losing 6.02% or 3.75 to 58.50. Shares in POWER GRID CORPORATION OF INDIA (NSE:PGRD) fell to 52-week lows; losing 1.91% or 2.50 to 128.60. Shares in Tata Power Co. Ltd (BO:TTPW) fell to 3-years lows; losing 5.54% or 3.45 to 58.85.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was down 4.56% to 26.8475.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.46% or 5.30 to $1148.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 3.52% or 1.34 to hit $39.59 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 3.68% or 1.57 to trade at $44.26 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 1.61% to 65.940, while EUR/INR fell 2.60% to 75.6190.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.82% at 94.15.
