Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Consumer Durables and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.33% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.39%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (NS:APSE), which rose 6.23% or 20.00 points to trade at 341.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) added 2.65% or 663.90 points to end at 25720.00 and GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) was up 2.32% or 8.65 points to 382.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA), which fell 1.80% or 1.60 points to trade at 87.30 at the close. Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (NS:BHEL) declined 1.64% or 2.75 points to end at 165.10 and Coal India Limited (NS:COAL) was down 1.53% or 4.50 points to 289.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (BO:APSE) which rose 5.77% to 338.85, HDFC Bank Ltd. (BO:HDBK) which was up 2.51% to settle at 1463.75 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which gained 1.67% to close at 350.65.
The worst performers were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 1.34% to 184.45 in late trade, Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which lost 1.33% to settle at 290.15 and TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which was down 1.08% to 478.15 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 968 to 520 and 68 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1692 rose and 956 declined, while 223 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.52% to 12.1500.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.30% or 3.80 to $1249.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.28% or 0.14 to hit $49.37 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.49% or 0.26 to trade at $52.28 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.23% to 64.936, while EUR/INR fell 0.17% to 69.7210.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 99.99.
