Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Power and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.32% to hit a new 52-week high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.37%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which rose 3.79% or 5.45 points to trade at 149.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) added 3.44% or 20.20 points to end at 606.75 and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (NS:APSE) was up 2.84% or 6.65 points to 240.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which fell 3.42% or 12.45 points to trade at 351.55 at the close. Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA) declined 2.92% or 3.10 points to end at 103.10 and Bharti Infratel Limited (NS:BHRI) was down 1.99% or 7.750 points to 381.500.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which rose 3.69% to 149.10, Tata Power Co. Ltd (BO:TTPW) which was up 2.46% to settle at 72.85 and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BO:BHEL) which gained 1.71% to close at 140.10.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 3.11% to 351.90 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 1.12% to settle at 832.90 and NTPC Limited (BO:NTPC) which was down 0.90% to 159.85 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 813 to 672 and 51 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 916 rose and 713 declined, while 62 ended unchanged.

The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.64% to 14.5875.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.50% or 6.75 to $1337.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.63% or 0.68 to hit $42.48 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.45% or 0.64 to trade at $44.91 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.04% to 66.812, while EUR/INR fell 0.07% to 74.0850.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 96.25.
