Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Metals and IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.13%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS:TISC), which rose 3.14% or 12.75 points to trade at 419.30 at the close. Meanwhile, ACC Ltd (NS:ACC) added 2.56% or 41.60 points to end at 1667.00 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) was up 2.23% or 26.40 points to 1211.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which fell 1.22% or 3.90 points to trade at 315.55 at the close. Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) declined 1.17% or 13.00 points to end at 1096.00 and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (NS:APSE) was down 1.07% or 2.85 points to 264.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which rose 2.71% to 417.40, Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which was up 2.36% to settle at 199.40 and Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which gained 1.90% to close at 580.55.
The worst performers were NTPC Limited (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.28% to 146.45 in late trade, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which lost 1.27% to settle at 316.10 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 1.26% to 1095.95 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 851 to 646 and 50 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1673 rose and 1147 declined, while 126 ended unchanged.
Shares in TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS:TISC) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.14% or 12.75 to 419.30. Shares in Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) rose to all time highs; rising 2.23% or 26.40 to 1211.00. Shares in TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.71% or 11.00 to 417.40. Shares in Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.36% or 4.60 to 199.40.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.38% to 14.2850.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.95% or 11.85 to $1263.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.34% or 0.17 to hit $49.98 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.58% or 0.30 to trade at $52.23 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.05% to 66.566, while EUR/INR fell 0.35% to 74.3400.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 96.74.
