Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Consumer Durables and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.10%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Indiabulls (NS:INBF), which rose 5.47% or 55.60 points to trade at 1072.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) added 3.14% or 5.85 points to end at 192.40 and Housing Development Finance Corp. (NS:HDFC) was up 3.10% or 47.60 points to 1584.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv), which fell 2.59% or 7.25 points to trade at 272.75 at the close. Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) declined 2.58% or 34.55 points to end at 1303.80 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) was down 2.22% or 7.90 points to 347.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which rose 3.14% to 192.15, Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) which was up 2.99% to settle at 1582.95 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which gained 2.76% to close at 6705.65.
The worst performers were Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which was down 2.49% to 1304.45 in late trade, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which lost 2.00% to settle at 347.50 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 1.71% to 1370.90 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 851 to 730 and 11 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1513 fell and 1316 advanced, while 135 ended unchanged.
Shares in Indiabulls (NS:INBF) rose to all time highs; up 5.47% or 55.60 to 1072.55. Shares in Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) fell to 52-week lows; falling 2.58% or 34.55 to 1303.80. Shares in Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.49% or 33.35 to 1304.45. Shares in Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.76% or 180.15 to 6705.65.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 5.41% to 11.4475.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.12% or 1.47 to $1256.97 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.80% or 0.39 to hit $49.23 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.11% or 0.57 to trade at $52.09 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.01% to 64.220, while EUR/INR rose 0.05% to 70.0678.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 98.91.
