Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Consumer Durables sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 1.85%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 1.63%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which rose 8.59% or 58.85 points to trade at 743.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) added 8.17% or 62.85 points to end at 834.60 and UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) was up 5.46% or 34.80 points to 674.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which fell 3.57% or 9.85 points to trade at 266.15 at the close. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) declined 2.02% or 52.30 points to end at 2542.45 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) was down 2.04% or 11.50 points to 553.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which rose 5.51% to 1765.00, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 4.47% to settle at 1424.45 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 4.02% to close at 686.25.
The worst performers were Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was down 3.53% to 266.15 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 2.25% to settle at 552.40 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 1.33% to 6608.95 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1060 to 534 and 52 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1564 rose and 905 declined, while 139 ended unchanged.
Shares in Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) fell to 52-week lows; falling 1.33% or 88.90 to 6608.95.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.44% to 19.7975.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.29% or 3.50 to $1219.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.39% or 0.26 to hit $66.44 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.76% or 0.58 to trade at $76.49 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.80% to 74.250, while EUR/INR rose 0.35% to 83.8790.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 96.81.
