Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Real Estate and IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 1.02% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which rose 4.59% or 21.70 points to trade at 494.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) added 3.65% or 89.10 points to end at 2528.00 and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) was up 3.29% or 3.00 points to 94.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which fell 1.55% or 3.80 points to trade at 241.90 at the close. Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:SHCM) declined 1.40% or 347.70 points to end at 24428.05 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) was down 0.99% or 51.75 points to 5166.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which rose 3.37% to 2521.15, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was up 2.61% to settle at 1881.80 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which gained 2.42% to close at 1409.55.
The worst performers were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 1.29% to 5147.95 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 0.79% to settle at 609.25 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 0.70% to 7707.75 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 998 to 669 and 53 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1692 rose and 1159 declined, while 167 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.62% to 18.9200.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.67% or 12.55 to $1862.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.70% or 0.32 to hit $45.92 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.59% or 0.29 to trade at $49.13 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.20% to 73.571, while EUR/INR rose 0.00% to 89.2120.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 90.757.
