Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Real Estate and Metals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.68% to hit a new 3-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.61%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which rose 15.52% or 85.30 points to trade at 632.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN) added 4.10% or 8.30 points to end at 211.60 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) was up 3.53% or 12.20 points to 358.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which fell 6.58% or 222.10 points to trade at 3165.45 at the close. Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) declined 5.34% or 151.50 points to end at 2684.15 and Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) was down 2.49% or 7.05 points to 276.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 4.42% to 211.55, Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which was up 3.83% to settle at 384.05 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which gained 3.80% to close at 283.85.
The worst performers were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which was down 6.20% to 3163.90 in late trade, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which lost 5.35% to settle at 2689.10 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 2.47% to 276.05 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 980 to 615 and 53 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1484 rose and 1040 declined, while 156 ended unchanged.

Shares in Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) fell to 52-week lows; down 6.20% or 209.25 to 3163.90. Shares in Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.35% or 152.00 to 2689.10.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.92% to 13.0050.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.06% or 0.70 to $1230.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.17% or 0.80 to hit $69.06 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.57% or 1.15 to trade at $74.22 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.12% to 68.825, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 80.6235.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 94.23.
