Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 1.80%, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.85%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Thales (EPA:TCFP), which rose 0.91% or 1.05 points to trade at 117.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) added 0.89% or 0.66 points to end at 75.08 and Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP) was up 0.86% or 0.40 points to 46.66 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO), which fell 8.13% or 1.91 points to trade at 21.59 at the close. Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) declined 6.28% or 1.40 points to end at 20.89 and Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) was down 4.66% or 1.73 points to 35.38.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Biomerieux SA (EPA:BIOX) which rose 1.64% to 93.20, Sodexo SA (EPA:EXHO) which was up 1.09% to settle at 67.06 and Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN) which gained 0.97% to close at 44.97.
The worst performers were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) which was down 8.13% to 21.59 in late trade, Carmila SA (EPA:CARM) which lost 7.91% to settle at 13.50 and Trigano SA (EPA:TRIA) which was down 7.89% to 93.40 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 412 to 150 and 79 ended unchanged.
Shares in Trigano SA (EPA:TRIA) fell to 52-week lows; falling 7.89% or 8.00 to 93.40.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.37% or 6.75 to $1,810.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.38% or 2.61 to hit $107.17 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.86% or 2.09 to trade at $110.36 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.42% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.38% at 104.45.
