Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Consumer Goods and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.10% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index declined 1.06%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS), which rose 0.91% or 17.40 points to trade at 1,927.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (EPA:MICP) added 0.88% or 0.25 points to end at 28.56 and Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) was up 0.67% or 0.10 points to 14.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP), which fell 2.15% or 1.56 points to trade at 70.94 at the close. Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) declined 2.14% or 1.22 points to end at 55.74 and Bouygues SA (EPA:BOUY) was down 1.42% or 0.45 points to 31.34.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (EPA:CASP) which rose 13.56% to 3.20, Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which was up 1.90% to settle at 12.32 and SEB SA (EPA:SEBF) which gained 1.79% to close at 102.60.
The worst performers were Clariane SE (EPA:CLARI) which was down 8.37% to 5.86 in late trade, Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) which lost 4.60% to settle at 5.60 and CGG SA (EPA:GEPH) which was down 4.28% to 0.77 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 264 to 223 and 130 ended unchanged.
Shares in Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) fell to 3-years lows; down 2.14% or 1.22 to 55.74. Shares in Clariane SE (EPA:CLARI) fell to all time lows; down 8.37% or 0.54 to 5.86. Shares in Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) fell to all time lows; down 4.60% or 0.27 to 5.60.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.27% or 5.25 to $1,929.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.42% or 1.15 to hit $79.84 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.24% or 1.05 to trade at $83.84 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.16% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.40% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 103.24.
