Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Consumption sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 2.46%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which rose 3.50% or 0.60 points to trade at 17.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) added 1.31% or 0.37 points to end at 28.64 and Vale SA (SA:VALE3) was up 1.00% or 0.22 points to 22.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4), which fell 5.74% or 0.56 points to trade at 9.19 at the close. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 5.32% or 0.24 points to end at 4.27 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) was down 4.74% or 1.88 points to 37.75.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 237 to 109 and 20 ended unchanged.
Shares in Vale SA (SA:VALE3) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.00% or 0.22 to 22.30.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 12.70% to 36.12 a new 1-month high.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.25% or 15.90 to $1289.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.81% or 0.38 to hit $46.48 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.40% or 2.29 to trade at $161.48 .
USD/BRL was up 1.51% to 3.2376, while EUR/BRL rose 2.20% to 3.5794.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.57% at 97.76.
