Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Consumption sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.15%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which rose 3.88% or 0.90 points to trade at 24.11 at the close. Meanwhile, Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) added 2.66% or 0.09 points to end at 3.47 and ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) was up 1.69% or 0.120 points to 7.200 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vale SA (SA:VALE5), which fell 4.30% or 0.65 points to trade at 14.47 at the close. Vale SA (SA:VALE3) declined 4.02% or 0.71 points to end at 16.94 and Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) was down 3.56% or 0.38 points to 10.28.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 191 to 142 and 39 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.40% to 33.06.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.32% or 4.25 to $1312.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.28% or 1.52 to hit $44.83 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.67% or 0.97 to trade at $146.77 .
USD/BRL was down 0.29% to 3.2311, while EUR/BRL fell 0.17% to 3.6044.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 96.02.
