Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.95%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA:PCAR4), which rose 6.03% or 3.28 points to trade at 57.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) added 3.92% or 0.24 points to end at 6.36 and Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3) was up 3.12% or 0.27 points to 8.92 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3), which fell 2.67% or 0.76 points to trade at 27.69 at the close. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 2.65% or 0.12 points to end at 4.41 and Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) was down 2.57% or 0.37 points to 14.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 156 to 150 and 38 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.90% to 36.01.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.36% or 4.30 to $1183.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.08% or 0.04 to hit $47.98 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 2.35% or 3.80 to trade at $157.77 .
USD/BRL was down 0.04% to 3.3931, while EUR/BRL fell 0.01% to 3.5817.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 101.77.
