Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Electric Power, Consumption and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.67%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were BB Seguridade Participacoes SA (SA:BBSE3), which rose 2.58% or 0.75 points to trade at 29.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA:UGPA3) added 2.20% or 1.65 points to end at 76.50 and Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3) was up 1.55% or 0.45 points to 29.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6), which fell 4.58% or 0.79 points to trade at 16.47 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) declined 4.00% or 0.55 points to end at 13.20 and Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) was down 3.97% or 0.76 points to 18.36.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 206 to 173 and 30 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.50% to 38.48.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.47% or 5.95 to $1266.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.54% or 0.26 to hit $48.06 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.12% or 1.45 to trade at $127.72 .
USD/BRL was up 0.59% to 3.2455, while EUR/BRL rose 0.32% to 3.6395.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 97.14.
