Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumption, Financials and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.37%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 5.49% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.92 at the close. Meanwhile, Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) added 4.68% or 0.65 points to end at 14.54 and Vale SA (SA:VALE3) was up 4.00% or 0.65 points to 16.89 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which fell 3.52% or 0.38 points to trade at 10.41 at the close. Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3) declined 2.69% or 0.19 points to end at 6.88 and Cia Energetica de Sao Paulo (SA:CESP6) was down 2.40% or 0.30 points to 12.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 181 to 118 and 23 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.56% to 37.10.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.45% or 5.55 to $1248.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.30% or 1.12 to hit $49.74 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 3.62% or 4.60 to trade at $131.60 .
USD/BRL was down 0.98% to 3.4893, while EUR/BRL fell 1.04% to 3.9642.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 94.00.
