Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumption, Industrials and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which rose 8.73% or 0.72 points to trade at 8.97 at the close. Meanwhile, Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) added 6.98% or 0.45 points to end at 6.90 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was up 6.55% or 0.11 points to 1.79 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Oi SA (SA:OIBR3), which fell 6.12% or 0.06 points to trade at 0.92 at the close. Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4) declined 5.55% or 0.89 points to end at 15.16 and Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) was down 5.09% or 1.13 points to 21.06.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 188 to 120 and 29 ended unchanged.
Shares in Oi SA (SA:OIBR3) fell to 5-year lows; losing 6.12% or 0.06 to 0.92. Shares in Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.09% or 1.13 to 21.06.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 7.64% to 58.05 a new 6-months high.
Gold for June delivery was up 1.14% or 14.20 to $1258.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.64% or 0.65 to hit $40.37 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 2.17% or 2.61 to trade at $123.08 .
USD/BRL was down 2.55% to 3.4974, while EUR/BRL fell 2.48% to 3.9892.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.23% at 94.00.
