Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.24%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which rose 4.10% or 0.22 points to trade at 5.58 at the close. Meanwhile, EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) added 2.89% or 0.32 points to end at 11.39 and Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) was up 2.61% or 1.00 points to 39.26 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banco Santander Brasil SA Unit (SA:SANB11), which fell 3.38% or 0.91 points to trade at 26.05 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) declined 3.20% or 0.56 points to end at 16.94 and Hypermarcas SA (SA:HYPE3) was down 2.69% or 0.78 points to 28.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 220 to 183 and 32 ended unchanged.
Shares in EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.89% or 0.32 to 11.39. Shares in Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.61% or 1.00 to 39.26.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.17% to 26.27 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.13% or 1.65 to $1240.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.55% or 0.72 to hit $47.31 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.88% or 1.18 to trade at $135.88 .
USD/BRL was down 0.21% to 3.1478, while EUR/BRL fell 0.60% to 3.6245.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 94.62.
