Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Electric Power and Consumption sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3), which rose 7.55% or 0.40 points to trade at 5.70 at the close. Meanwhile, PDG Realty SA (SA:PDGR3) added 6.45% or 0.020 points to end at 0.330 and Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) was up 3.21% or 0.40 points to 12.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4), which fell 3.68% or 0.50 points to trade at 13.10 at the close. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) declined 3.66% or 0.61 points to end at 16.04 and Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) was down 3.02% or 0.60 points to 19.29.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 154 to 146 and 10 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.50% to 28.15 a new 6-months low.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.54% or 6.40 to $1177.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.10% or 0.06 to hit $61.27 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 2.10% or 2.77 to trade at $129.25 .
USD/BRL was down 0.06% to 3.0783, while EUR/BRL fell 1.55% to 3.4390.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.15% at 95.61.
