Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Consumption sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.43%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4), which rose 1.54% or 0.25 points to trade at 16.49 at the close. Meanwhile, Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) added 0.79% or 0.28 points to end at 35.70 and Vale SA (SA:VALE3) was up 0.78% or 0.38 points to 49.09 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA:UGPA3), which fell 10.16% or 6.11 points to trade at 54.01 at the close. Viavarejo Unt (SA:VVAR11) declined 7.22% or 2.10 points to end at 27.00 and Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) was down 6.47% or 1.24 points to 17.94.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 309 to 90 and 32 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA:UGPA3) fell to 52-week lows; losing 10.16% or 6.11 to 54.01. Shares in Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) rose to 5-year highs; rising 0.79% or 0.28 to 35.70. Shares in Vale SA (SA:VALE3) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 0.78% or 0.38 to 49.09. Shares in Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) fell to 5-year lows; losing 6.47% or 1.24 to 17.94.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.44% to 28.81.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.53% or 6.90 to $1312.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.79% or 0.54 to hit $68.47 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.36% or 0.45 to trade at $124.28 .
USD/BRL was down 0.85% to 3.5230, while EUR/BRL fell 0.52% to 4.2240.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 92.29.
