Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.15% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3), which rose 7.37% or 2.10 points to trade at 30.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) added 3.64% or 0.80 points to end at 22.80 and CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) was up 2.53% or 0.21 points to 8.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which fell 4.93% or 0.55 points to trade at 10.60 at the close. Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) declined 3.51% or 1.13 points to end at 31.10 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) was down 3.34% or 0.78 points to 22.59.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 281 to 152 and 30 ended unchanged.
Shares in Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3) rose to all time highs; gaining 7.37% or 2.10 to 30.60.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 17.59% to 30.01.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.34% or 4.40 to $1316.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.29% or 0.18 to hit $62.23 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 0.68% or 0.80 to trade at $119.08 .
USD/BRL was up 0.17% to 3.2854, while EUR/BRL rose 0.60% to 4.0548.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 89.45.
