Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Financials, Consumption and Electric Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 2.16% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4), which rose 6.42% or 0.47 points to trade at 7.79 at the close. Meanwhile, Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) added 6.09% or 0.52 points to end at 9.06 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was up 5.33% or 0.98 points to 19.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which fell 3.94% or 0.87 points to trade at 21.23 at the close. Klabin Unt (SA:KLBN11) declined 3.27% or 0.51 points to end at 15.10 and Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) was down 3.23% or 0.36 points to 10.80.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 238 to 96 and 14 ended unchanged.
Shares in Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) fell to 52-week lows; losing 3.94% or 0.87 to 21.23. Shares in Klabin Unt (SA:KLBN11) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.27% or 0.51 to 15.10. Shares in Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.23% or 0.36 to 10.80.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.00% to 36.26.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.39% or 5.35 to $1367.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.22% or 0.10 to hit $45.24 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 1.53% or 2.17 to trade at $144.02 .
USD/BRL was down 1.99% to 3.3002, while EUR/BRL fell 2.07% to 3.6482.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 96.30.
