Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Consumption and Public Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.87%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which rose 6.16% or 1.35 points to trade at 23.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3) added 5.32% or 2.660 points to end at 52.670 and BB Seguridade Participacoes SA (SA:BBSE3) was up 3.41% or 0.96 points to 29.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3), which fell 16.92% or 0.55 points to trade at 2.70 at the close. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) declined 5.15% or 0.12 points to end at 2.21 and Cia Hering (SA:HGTX3) was down 3.46% or 0.49 points to 13.68.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 161 to 119 and 33 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 6.03% to 53.18.
Gold for June delivery was up 1.52% or 18.60 to $1242.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.01% or 0.38 to hit $37.37 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 1.35% or 1.64 to trade at $119.78 .
USD/BRL was up 1.23% to 3.6863, while EUR/BRL rose 1.01% to 4.1926.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 94.55.
