Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumption, Financials and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.58%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which rose 4.21% or 0.40 points to trade at 9.90 at the close. Meanwhile, EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA:ENBR3) added 2.51% or 0.34 points to end at 13.90 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was up 2.03% or 0.08 points to 4.02 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were WEG SA (SA:WEGE3), which fell 2.63% or 0.46 points to trade at 17.05 at the close. Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3) declined 1.47% or 0.15 points to end at 10.02 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) was down 1.31% or 0.21 points to 15.76.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 196 to 158 and 38 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.16% to 31.60.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.28% or 3.45 to $1256.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.10% or 0.57 to hit $52.27 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 1.80% or 2.48 to trade at $140.23 .
USD/BRL was up 0.15% to 3.1482, while EUR/BRL fell 0.17% to 3.3365.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.44% at 101.05.
