Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumption, Basic Materials and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.60%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which rose 10.00% or 2.61 points to trade at 28.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Viavarejo Unt (SA:VVAR11) added 6.04% or 1.53 points to end at 26.85 and Magazine Luiza SA (SA:MGLU3) was up 5.39% or 5.74 points to 112.21 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3), which fell 3.41% or 1.29 points to trade at 36.50 at the close. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3) declined 3.26% or 1.50 points to end at 44.49 and BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) was down 2.46% or 0.59 points to 23.36.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 252 to 174 and 21 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.05% to 28.87.
Gold Futures for June delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $1290.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.35% or 0.25 to hit $71.56 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.21% or 0.25 to trade at $117.28 .
USD/BRL was up 0.56% to 3.6745, while EUR/BRL rose 0.30% to 4.3390.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 93.26.
