Brazil stocks higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.51%

Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Consumption and Electric Power sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.51%.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3), which rose 4.93% or 0.67 points to trade at 14.27 at the close. Meanwhile, Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) added 3.98% or 1.34 points to end at 35.05 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) was up 3.95% or 0.98 points to 25.78 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were BRF SA (SA:BRFS3), which fell 3.15% or 1.15 points to trade at 35.35 at the close. Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) declined 2.82% or 1.59 points to end at 54.88 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was down 2.52% or 0.79 points to 30.59.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 283 to 191 and 29 ended unchanged.

Shares in RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.93% or 0.67 to 14.27. Shares in BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) fell to 5-year lows; falling 3.15% or 1.15 to 35.35. Shares in Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) rose to all time highs; up 3.98% or 1.34 to 35.05. Shares in Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.95% or 0.98 to 25.78.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.14% to 29.47.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.80% or 10.70 to $1346.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.56% or 0.36 to hit $64.86 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.11% or 0.14 to trade at $122.03 .

USD/BRL was up 0.14% to 3.1863, while EUR/BRL rose 0.25% to 3.9553.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 88.93.
