Investing.com -- Investors will spend Friday digesting results from Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL), Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) and Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR), which all reported after Thursday's market close.
The Dow recovered from a rocky start to the day, ending higher thanks to tech. Ford showed strength with strong results, and Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) ended up after saying it would raise prices in the U.S.
Sentiment on stocks was supported by a bigger-than-expected gain in economic growth in the third quarter and signs the labor market remains somewhat resilient.
Gross domestic product increased at a 33.1% annual rate in the June-September period, the Commerce Department said in its first estimate on Thursday, beating economists' forecast for 31%.
Many more earnings are on deck for Friday, as is spending and income. After those GDP numbers, could be interesting.
Here are three things that may move markets tomorrow:
1. Big oil's big day
Exxon Mobil Corp (NYSE:XOM). and Chevron Corp. (NYSE:CVX) results will give insight into what is more than likely the sorry state of U.S. oil majors. Exxon late Wednesday said it would maintain its 87-cent dividend despite the pandemic-driven oil rout and today said it would slash its global workforce by 15% over the next two years. Both companies are expected to have lost money last quarter, with analysts looking for Exxon to post a loss of 25 cents per share and Chevron a loss of 23 cents.
2. Other earnings
Fossil fuels not your thing? We'll also get pharma results from AbbVie Inc (NYSE:ABBV)., a check on conglomerate Honeywell International Inc (NYSE:HON)., cigarette-maker Altria Group (NYSE:MO) Inc. and Colgate-Palmolive (NYSE:CL) Co., which has had trouble keeping up with pandemic-induced demand for some of its products.
3. Economic data also due out
We'll get personal income and spending reports at 8:30 AM ET (1230 GMT). Economists expect a modest 0.4% tick higher in income from the previous 2.7% decline. On the spending front, the call is for another 1% gain like there was in August. The University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment number is also due at 10:00 AM ET (1400 GMT).
