Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Consumer Services and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.94%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 0.44% or 0.290 points to trade at 66.790 at the close. Meanwhile, Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 0.04% or 0.01 points to end at 13.29 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 108.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR), which fell 2.73% or 1.29 points to trade at 46.15 at the close. KBC (BR:KBC) declined 1.93% or 1.310 points to end at 66.630 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was down 1.75% or 2.20 points to 123.30.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 68 to 45 and 10 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.75% or 9.31 to $1243.01 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.63% or 0.29 to hit $46.31 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.74% or 0.36 to trade at $48.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.86% to 1.1577, while EUR/GBP rose 0.88% to 0.8868.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.64% at 94.31.
