Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Utilities and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.52%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which rose 0.97% or 1.00 points to trade at 104.55 at the close. Meanwhile, NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) added 0.77% or 0.31 points to end at 40.52 and Elia (BR:ELI) was up 0.53% or 0.250 points to 47.150 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which fell 1.42% or 0.800 points to trade at 55.620 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) declined 1.39% or 0.18 points to end at 13.13 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was down 1.28% or 0.72 points to 55.39.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 96 to 51 and 16 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.07% or 0.95 to $1275.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 3.22% or 1.57 to hit $47.13 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 3.49% or 1.77 to trade at $48.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.0976, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.8977.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 98.36.
