Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.05%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which rose 2.39% or 0.84 points to trade at 36.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Ageas (BR:AGES) added 1.80% or 0.620 points to end at 35.000 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was up 1.15% or 0.51 points to 44.72 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which fell 2.56% or 0.74 points to trade at 28.17 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.13% or 0.440 points to end at 38.330 and UCB (BR:UCB) was down 1.03% or 0.73 points to 70.30.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 79 to 63 and 13 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.15% or 1.90 to $1256.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 3.12% or 1.26 to hit $41.62 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 3.41% or 1.46 to trade at $44.29 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.1388, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.7994.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 94.06.
