Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, A-REITs and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.61%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Galaxy Resources Ltd (AX:GXY), which rose 8.14% or 0.035 points to trade at 0.465 at the close. Meanwhile, Aconex Ltd (AX:ACX) added 6.09% or 0.280 points to end at 4.880 and Bellamys Australia Ltd (AX:BAL) was up 4.31% or 0.250 points to 6.050 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JB Hi-Fi Ltd (AX:JBH), which fell 4.39% or 1.100 points to trade at 23.980 at the close. Commonwealth Bank Of Australia . (AX:CBA) declined 3.94% or 3.360 points to end at 81.940 and Westpac Banking Corporation (AX:WBC) was down 3.65% or 1.245 points to 32.835.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Australia Stock Exchange by 577 to 502 and 386 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 5.06% to 12.389.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.05% or 0.56 to $1227.66 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.15% or 0.07 to hit $46.36 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.12% or 0.06 to trade at $49.28 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.47% to 0.7352, while AUD/JPY fell 0.38% to 83.34.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 99.04.
