Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Energy, Resources and Telecoms Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 declined 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Domino'S Pizza Enterprises Ltd (AX:DMP), which rose 6.91% or 2.750 points to trade at 42.520 at the close. Meanwhile, Northern Star Resources Ltd (AX:NST) added 5.57% or 0.160 points to end at 3.030 and Arrium Ltd (AX:ARI) was up 5.00% or 0.005 points to 0.105 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Origin Energy Ltd (AX:ORG), which fell 7.42% or 0.440 points to trade at 5.490 at the close. Santos Ltd (AX:STO) declined 6.83% or 0.380 points to end at 5.180 and Liquefied Natural Gas Ltd (AX:LNG) was down 6.36% or 0.105 points to 1.545.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Australia Stock Exchange by 488 to 476 and 123 ended unchanged.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 2.99% to 20.247 a new 1-month low.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.63% or 7.40 to $1172.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $46.68 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $49.69 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.12% to 0.7235, while AUD/JPY fell 0.18% to 86.59.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 94.66.
