Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Metals & Mining and Resources sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 lost 0.70%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Vocus Group Ltd (AX:VOC), which rose 4.69% or 0.130 points to trade at 2.900 at the close. Meanwhile, Costa Group Holdings Ltd (AX:CGC) added 3.67% or 0.170 points to end at 4.800 and Aconex Ltd (AX:ACX) was up 3.56% or 0.150 points to 4.360 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Retail Food Group Ltd (AX:RFG), which fell 11.49% or 0.600 points to trade at 4.620 at the close. Metcash Ltd (AX:MTS) declined 6.02% or 0.130 points to end at 2.030 and Asaleo Care (AX:AHY) was down 5.41% or 0.080 points to 1.400.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Australia Stock Exchange by 596 to 497 and 340 ended unchanged.
Shares in Retail Food Group Ltd (AX:RFG) fell to 52-week lows; down 11.49% or 0.600 to 4.620. Shares in Costa Group Holdings Ltd (AX:CGC) rose to all time highs; rising 3.67% or 0.170 to 4.800.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 4.83% to 12.093.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.18% or 2.35 to $1282.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.22% or 0.58 to hit $48.24 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.18% or 0.59 to trade at $50.54 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.28% to 0.7463, while AUD/JPY rose 0.49% to 82.56.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 96.75.
