Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Energy, Resources and Metals & Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Beach Energy Ltd (AX:BPT), which rose 5.71% or 0.110 points to trade at 2.035 at the close. Meanwhile, Brickworks Ltd (AX:BKW) added 4.19% or 0.680 points to end at 16.900 and Bellamys Australia Ltd (AX:BAL) was up 4.12% or 0.390 points to 9.850 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Webjet Ltd (AX:WEB), which fell 5.61% or 0.930 points to trade at 15.650 at the close. St Barbara Ltd (AX:SBM) declined 5.32% or 0.185 points to end at 3.295 and Regis Resources Ltd (AX:RRL) was down 5.15% or 0.200 points to 3.680.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 606 to 551 and 351 ended unchanged.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 0.22% to 11.165.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.10% or 1.20 to $1203.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.36% or 0.26 to hit $72.34 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.38% or 0.31 to trade at $80.84 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.14% to 0.7243, while AUD/JPY fell 0.09% to 81.75.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 93.90.
