- Telecom Italia (NYSE:TI) is denying reports that say its new CEO might be on the way out amid heavy disagreement with top shareholder Vivendi (OTCPK:VIVHY).
- Amos Genish in September was named the Italian company's third CEO in less than two years, and is a favorite of Vivendi Chairman Vincent Bollore. But sources are pointing to disputes between Genish and Vivendi, with one saying "Vivendi doesn't want to give autonomy to its managers and Genish is alone in a very difficult company."
- Since being installed, Genish has worked to repair relations with Rome, which bristled when French-based Vivendi became top shareholder.
- TI chairman (and Vivendi CEO) Arnaud de Puyfontaine says the board has "full trust" in Genish; Genish meanwhile says he's "100% committed to the re-launch of TIM and to the fine-tuning of the industrial plan to 2020, which represents a long-term personal and professional project."
