(Reuters) - The union that Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) workers recently voted to represent them has demanded the company start bargaining in early May and cease any changes to employment terms at their warehouse in the interim, according to a letter the group issued Saturday on Twitter (NYSE:TWTR).

The Amazon Labor Union also demanded the retailer respect workers' rights to union representation during disciplinary meetings, the letter said. Amazon did not immediately comment.

On Friday, after some 55% of workers voted to make their warehouse in Staten Island, New York Amazon's first unionized worksite in the United States, the company said it may file objections before the election result is certified.

As if the union could do better. Lock them out. Close it down. defeat the useless unions.
Anti union middle class people are so uneducated! Look at history and see the way workers were treated prior to unions.
I wouldn’t be supprised if one or a combination of the following happens. Amazon fully automates (from the partial automation they have now) and resduced employees to a nominal amout. At which point who cares if the dozen or so people at each center are union or not. They will be skilled labor, ie technicians. Another thought is they close down the center but I doubt that. Lastly, and this is the one I figure, they outsource the employees very simular to the way they did drivers. They set a price they pay each hour worked and again wont care is Amazon is unionized as they will set the price per hour, take it or leave it. Lastly, they will tell the union to kick rocks, unskilled labor isn’t that hard to find when you already pay better than market. The union wont care, they duped the workes into paying dues, they wont care if they can’t do any better. Unlike more skilled professionals like teachers, fireman, police, some auto workers, it’s easy to replace a warhouse worker.
I suspect Amazon will end up closing it down. We will see.
