Investing.com - The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits unexpectedly rose in the past week.
Initial jobless claims were up 7,000 from the previous week at 265,000, the Labor Department said.
The previous week's figure was confirmed at 258,000.
Economists had expected jobless claims to be unchanged at 258,000.
The figures still point to sustained strength in the labor market.
