Investing.com - Retail sales in Canada increased by a smaller-than-expected amount in November, official data showed on Friday.
In a report, Statistics Canada said that Canadian, retail sales rose 0.2% in November, compared to forecasts for a 0.5% advance and the 1.2% gain in the prior month, that was revised from an initial 1.1% increase.
Core retail sales, excluding automobiles, inched up 0.1% in November, after a 1.4% gain in the preceding month.
Analysts had expected Canadian core retail sales to rise 0.2% in November.
After the report, which was released simultaneously with inflation data, USD/CAD traded at 1.3381, compared to 1.3344 prior to the release.
