Wall Street posts worst week in over a month amid bond sell-off, rising oil prices
Investing.com -- Google said on Tuesday that its Gemini artificial intelligence app has surpassed 1 billion monthly users, marking the fastest growth of any product in the company’s history as it expands the chatbot’s use across voice, images, video and everyday tasks.
The milestone highlights the rapid adoption of generative AI assistants as Google pushes Gemini beyond text-based interactions and into consumers’ daily routines, including real-time problem-solving, creative work and automated tasks across other applications.
Google said 63% of Gemini users now interact with the assistant by voice, with a growing number relying on voice-only interactions. Parents are 43% more likely than other users to use voice for everyday tasks, the company said.
The company’s milestone underscores the rapid adoption of AI assistants as the company expands Gemini beyond a traditional chatbot into a multimodal platform that handles voice, images, video and real-world tasks, intensifying competition with other leading AI services.
Gemini is also gaining traction through its multimodal capabilities. About one in five Gemini Live interactions involves more than voice, with users relying on live camera feeds and screen sharing to solve problems in real time. DIY users and students are among those using the features, Google said.
The company said Gemini now generates more than 150 million images a day, as users and small businesses increasingly use the platform to create marketing materials and other content across images, video and audio.
On Android devices, Gemini can automate actions across more than 40 popular applications, including tasks such as booking rides and making restaurant reservations.
Google also said Gemini has more than 100 million active users on Apple’s iOS platform, while power users on macOS send roughly twice as many prompts as users on other platforms.
