Plandai Biotechnology, Inc., through its subsidiaries, is engaged in the bio-pharmaceutical business. It grows the green tea used in its Phytofare Catechin production, a 3,000-hectare estate it operates under approximately 50-years lease in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. It uses an extraction process that is engineered to yield bioavailable products of pharmaceutical-grade purity. It offers Phytofare Catechin Complex, a green-tea derived extract and a commercial product in the Phytofare brand. Its principle holdings consist of land, farms and infrastructure in South Africa. Its extracts include gallate catechins from green tea, such as catechin gallate (CG), epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), gallocatechin gallate (GCG) and epicatechin gallate (ECG), and carotenoids (lycopene) from tomatoes, as well as citrus bioflavonoids and limonoids. It manufactures and formulates the Pheroid technology for entrapped Phytofare extracts.
