NZME has decided to publish articles provided to it from Chinese State owned media in their NZHerald. "China is protecting not only its own people, but also the rest of the world." What a travesty and absolute suspension of critical thinking. Despite the nil dividend for years, high debt, and 62% of assets intangible in nature, I was still considering a buy - because marketing spends increase in a recession. Now, I don't believe investing in this media company is a good moral choice. So, basically no redeeming features. AVOID

But the dividend issue is not as concerning as Intangible assets comprising a full 62% of all reported assets.

Based on their recently changed dividend policy and interim NPAT, no dividends are likely until debt has reduced around 67% or by $60m. In the face of steadily reducing revenue it may be a long wait for any dividends. if the policy remains as well as present profitability and debt reduction trends we could expect a dividend in the 2023-2025 sort of timescale.
