Why is AGNC falling this morning?
Initially, right after Opening Bell, I think it was profit taking by large funds, because there was 2M trades in the first five minutes. That dropped the price to about $18.00. After that, I think the "Chicken Littles" drove the price down further. I have seen nothing that would keep the price from going back up.
Massive sold off for 2 reasons: 1. Book value went down to $16.82 or 6.4% from $17.96. 2. They file for potential stock offering with SEC
Why is AGNC falling this morning?
They dont show any growth in their dividend.
AGNC and the banking industry are on fire now with Fed support and economy recovering w/ 1Q21 GDP at 6.4%. AGNC can easily get to $19 this year.

My take away. Put it in your IRA... reinvest dividends. And forget about it. When you are ready to retire, switch off dividend reinvestment and collect income. Dont put too much into it though too volatile
Buy and getting good dividend now and possible future increase in stock price and dividend. Since beginning of 2021, $16.34 has been the average price. You could have bought in last week for $15.50.
Strong support at 15.82 since Nov.
The math on the dividends is incorrect, they pay monthly not quarterly.

For AGNC, the Ex-dividend date (which is the date they determine how many shares each account has) is around the 29th of each month. The payout date is around the 10th of the following month. If you go above the graph, for AGNC, and select Dividends, it will give you that information.

This software only shows dividends down to the quarter, so for AGNC, you are going to have to do your own math.
AGNC is a mortgage backed REIT. They are the most risky and most volitile of all REITS. They have a large amount of liability and are bound to see serious amounts of dilequencies. Since REITS have to pay out 90% of profits to shareholders by law, it doesn't leave them in a good position to say the least. These are the dividend stocks that break hearts and portfolios.
You are right, mortgage-backed REITS are the most risky, but of the mortgage-backed REITS, AGNC is one of the least risky. AGNC only deals with government backed mortgages, such as, Fannie Mae's and Freddie Macs. Granted, if you are a trader, it gets even more risky, but from an investor's perspective, who is looking at the long term interest payments, it is a fairly safe bet.
The EPS is a solid beat by $0.17, but the Revenue is a miss by almost $39M.  Considering what has been going on during this Quarter, is it really that bad?

For this month, they're still paying $0.16 per share. Compared to stock price a month ago, now you will get about 50% more shares upon reinvestment.

Remember, the only time a stock's price really matters, is when you buy or sell. With AGNC, this low price, not only allows you to buy more, but the reinvestment of dividends gets you more. As for selling, you just have to ride it out with the rest of us.
