Westjet trying to kok block is going to be a serious issue. not sure what the share price will do if this actually gets blocked. the transat deal is a massive discount and would create very nice uplift in pricing in AC favour.
belly up soon hope everyone gets fired and laid off
https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/air-canada-job-cuts-1.5871301
Air Canada cutting about 1,700 jobs as it reduces capacity in response to pandemic restrictions
new South African corona virus is spreading throughout Europe and Africa, current vaccines do not protect against it, multiple spike protein mutations that elude the immune system.
don't buy air canada until news of these new variants of covid are realized. the market is already reacting to the greater lock downs in Europe. 1.8 million dead worldwide and by end of January will be well over 2 million.
if you want a quick pop, buy a dividend stock line td today or tomorrow and sell it for the dividend or watch it run up from all the people buying it for the dividend. ex dividend date on TD is January 7th. sell it after that date inorder to lock in your dividend.
that's why you buy it a week or so before. generally everyone starts dividend buying right after that and you get to sell your stock above the ex dividend date. don't be such an amateur.
I did the exact same strategy with laurentian Bank... bought at 31.20 sold at 31.35 on the day of the ex dividend. picked up .40 cents a share for the dividend and an extra .15 a share on the stock sell.
so if you played my strategy you'd probably be really happy right now with td. glad I took my own advice. worked out nicely as anticipated. not trying to be a dink but I've been trading for like 8 years.
stock looks like the wind got taken out of it. volume is down massively. I might move over to something else.
markets looking to rally.
don't see any new Rally for this year. Wait for the right price to enter
my advice. this new virus strain could all *****over but I suspect more fear will be injected into the news to drive down the anticipated market correction. there will likely be more reports of other countries with the strain and it spreading. this will be followed by a rally the 'santa claus rally'. news will focus on how current vaccines will protect from this new virus and nothing to worry about. setting up 2021 for further gains. I do anticipate more downside but buying now and not looking for a couple weeks will be fine.
was able to pick up some at 21.25 sold it all at 22. rebound at 21.60. waiting for another bounce.
just sold my rebuy at 21.90 will wait for the mid day sell-off see where we are at for a late day rally buy and sell
pocketed a few thousand already. no need to be greedy on a red day. any money made on a red day is a good day.
could break 23 today and start a fall towards 22. I'll start a new position at 22.50
22.50 is too early. you should start a position at 20.05
looks like just above 21 was the right spot
what do you think for today ?
Buy at fear sell at News.
I tried to tell people to take their profits. ac went up to fast. it was sitting pretty at around 25 to 26. it was much higher than even what the executive team thought it should be which is a good bet they will capitilize on it to do an offering. no different then what pot companies did. get as much cash as possible. which is what they're doing. 850$ mill will buy them 2-3 quarters in runway. with ongoing cargo business helping add support. I don't think this bleeding will stop and likely tomorrow morning we will see another big push down as those caught off guard will sell into this news tomorrow morning after they cash in too or cash out at a loss.
Air Canada (OTCQX:ACDVF) has priced public offering of 35.42M Class A Variable Voting Shares and/or Class B Voting Shares at C$24./share, for aggregate gross proceeds of ~C$850M. Underwriters' over-allotment is an additional 15% of the shares in the offering. Offering is expected to close on December 30. Net proceeds will be used for working capital and other general corporate purposes.
Intersting pullback.  I did not foresee this today as I would have scalped a lot more only got out after 30 cents.  Holding on to my 16/07/21 26 strike calls although I don't even want to look at them this morning lol.
yup this almost rules out a bailout. which is quite ridiculous.
I feel you.  I honestly am looking at the iV and costs of locking in a few more puts at 25/26 for July/21 or December at this price
good strategy
wow LOL
well now there's a floor in at 24. shouldn't go down much more than that. but dilution is now in.
should I add more?
I'd wait. it is now below a critical support line. if it closes below this i think we are going to see it push lower over the next few days with small relief rally here and there but I think 20 is where I think it is heading. if you aren't day trading wait for 21 and 20. if those hit we will see a nice bounce.
thank you
At Quebec province, lockdown will be announced today to start by december 25th (only essential stores should remain open)... I hope it will be for only 2 weeks...
there was some commentary from Kevin oleary saying he is shooting the airlines.
sorry "shorting"
Kevin can say whatever he wants. He's millionaire, and his speculation power on the stocks is the CAD equivalent to Trump tweets on the U.S. markets. Only your own research can lead to actual earnings.
update on the situation, today's slide was party due to continued consolidation and a minor correction. also the overall US markets were down due to the frothy levels they were at. too high too fast. look for a correction in the dow down to 2800 level. ac will follow suit and likely drag it down into the 24s.
futures hope I was expecting this kind of correction by first week of january; once Biden's will be proclamed, the rally should continue
it bounced. if we see a good open. 27 will be history so hold for 28 and a revisit of the resistance and recent highs.
it wasn't a bail out but rather the wage subsidy. so they saved some money on paying wages.
Well it will save AC another $400M that could be used for other purposes. where AC would have to pay full wage. It depends how a person sees it. AC is canada's national airline, this thing is not going anywhere.
and I never said bailout, I said relief package
Pfizer just got approved in canada 🤑🤑🤑
sell the news
Resistance level of 28-30 confirmed. Will anticipate buying back at 20-24 level.
don't fall in love with a stock, make your money and move on or wait till it gives you an opportunity. first lesson I learned was not to ever believe blindly that a stock will go up forever. there's bound to be consolidation after 75 up swing.
I bought more shares today @25,90; do you think it could go lower? I think Health Canada approval of the vaccine stopped the stock of going further down. Do you see the stock could go down even with tomorrow's FDA announcement (approval)?
well 25.76 was a critical support on the daily chart. the support was literally at 25.75 and it bounced the second it hit it so thats a good sign. but if the overall market decides to dump... that support isn't gonna hold abd the next line is just above 24 where again it will have to hold... if not it going down to the bottom of the channel and that's low 20s.
I sold almost all my position today @26,36. Hoping to reenter at a better price.
