On today’s episode of the Zacks Friday Finish Line, Content Writer Ryan McQueeney and Editor Maddy Johnson take on this week’s biggest stories, including the latest earnings results from the likes of Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) , Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) , and Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) —as well as the state of the semiconductor industry after AMD (NASDAQ:AMD) and Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) posted strong guidance.

Investors initiated a selloff earlier this week after yields on the 10-year Treasury note surpassed 3% for the first time in four years, adding to heightened concerns that strong earnings results were already cooked into the market.

Nevertheless, actual earnings and revenue growth blew expectations out of the water, with Facebook, Amazon, and Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) rounding out a great stretch for the FANG stocks and the likes of Visa (NYSE:V) and Chipotle (NYSE:CMG) restating the strength of the consumer economy.

Most notably, semiconductor players like AMD and Intel helped quell fears that the chip market could be headed for a downturn after posting encouraging forward-looking guidance.
